MP3 Software Links
MP3 stands for mpeg layer 3, which is a compressed digital audio code which can be transferred from its original source without losing its sound quality. The advantage of MP3 is that it can be broken down into sections, with each section still being playable. The feature that makes this possible is a headerless file format which means MP3 files can be made to stream across the net real-time as long as the playback bit rate and speed of the Internet connection are compatible. MP3 software allows you to download these files into your hard drive to playback at your convenience or to burn onto a CD or DVD. Because the files are compressed, you can fit about 10 times the amount of songs onto a CD. However, most car and home CD players won't playback MP3s, but your computer and most DVD players will. You can also build a huge song collection on your hard drive because they don't take up a lot of space. There are literally thousands of internet sites with libraries of songs in MP3 format that let you download songs for a fee or for free.
